IT MAY BE COLD WHERE YOU ARE LOCATED SO WE HOPE THIS WARMING VACATION FILLED ARTICLE WILL HELP YOU TO IMAGINE SUMMER (IN THE MIDDLE OF CHRISTMAS.) A LITTLE PRESENT FROM US TO YOU, TO WARM YOUR HEART AND FILL THE AIR WITH THE SOUNDS OF WATER AND WAVES, SUNSHINE AND SMILES, WHILE ON YOUR IROCKER SUP HAVING FUN IN THE SUN. OUR PRESENT TO YOU FOR THIS HOLIDAY.
Have you heard of Magen’s Bay in St. Thomas, USVI? It has one of the world’s top beaches, and because it’s completely protected within a large cove and boasts 1.2 kilometers of white sand beach, it’s the perfect location for weddings, parties, vacations and of course, stand up paddle boarding.
Recently, while on holiday with some mates, we decided to take our SUPs out onto the bay. It was a tropical 27°C, with cotton-like clouds in the sky, and a wisp of a breeze that felt wonderful against my skin. We could listen to island reggae coming from a party on the beach. It provided the perfect background score for our day SUPing on the bay.
Magen’s Bay, is a stunning water destination. It’s the kind of place to add to a bucket list, because every SUP fan really should experience it at least once.
Cruise ships take guests here so sometimes, it’s a bit crowded. Usually, though, it’s mostly the locals hanging out there. It’s definitely less touristy than some of the other St Thomas beaches.
It’s also a hot spot for iSUP. This is because of the calm water, chill vibe and beachside tiki bar. Also, there are picnic tables and live bands, so it’s an all-around fun place for a beach day and SUP.
In fact, there’s a popular SUP instructor who lives right at Magen’s, and you can usually see him out on the water, giving advice to novice paddle boarders and cruise ship excursion customers.
We had such a good time that day, taking turns on our iROCKERs and listening to happy island sounds of reggae. After a couple hours, we decided it was time for some well deserved adult beverages and conch fritters at the tiki bar.
While there, we ran into an island chef-friend with a problem. She’d packed a gourmet meal for a charter sailboat in the bay. The boat’s guests were on board but the dinghy wouldn’t start. The boat couldn’t come in close enough for a handoff so it was looking like the guests would go hungry that evening.
Until Chef Faye had a genius idea: how about using our iROCKER to ferry the picnic out to the sailboat?
We all pitched in to pack the picnic in a dry bag, help Faye climb aboard and give her a gentle push into the bay. She made it to the boat just as the yellow sun was beginning to turn every sailor’s favorite shade of pink.
Faye made the delivery, the guests enjoyed a perfect sunset sail, and the captain sighed a huge sigh of relief.
Sometimes you need to help a sister out, and we did with our iROCKER! And this got us to thinking about other ways we could use our iROCKER.
Note to self: go ahead and buy an iROCKER Big Blue. After all, this idea could be the next small business on St. Thomas. Taco delivery, anyone?
